SAS to enhance connectivity from Stockholm Arlanda – will launch direct route to Agadir, Morocco

SAS is expanding at Stockholm Arlanda Airport and will enhance connectivity with a new direct route to Agadir, Morocco. The route was previously unserved and will be operated once a week, on Saturdays, beginning November 4 this year.

For the first time since the spring of 2019, it will now be possible to fly in scheduled service with Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) non-stop from Stockholm Arlanda to the coastal city of Agadir. Located near the foot of the Atlas Mountains in southern Morocco, the city offers long white sandy beaches and a comfortable winter climate, making it a popular destination with Europeans. The first departure is planned for November 4 this year, and the route will be served once a week, on Saturdays, during the winter season using the fuel-efficient Airbus A320neo, with seating for up to 180 passengers. The route is a very welcome addition to Arlanda’s existing range of routes and enhances the connectivity of people living in the Nordic region to the African continent.

Throughout the winter season, starting November 4 this year, SAS will offer direct service between Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) and Agadir Al Massira Airport (AGA).

Passengers who fly with SAS can buy tickets that include 50 per cent sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), which is a biofuel. Compared to fossil fuels, SAF dramatically reduces climate-damaging CO₂ emissions. The Stockholm−Agadir route will be flown by an Airbus 320neo, with about a 20 per cent saving in fuel efficiency and emissions.

Swedavia’s work for fossil-free aviation
Swedavia has carried out ambitious climate work for many years. All ten of its airports achieved the goal of zero fossil carbon dioxide emissions from their own operations by year-end 2020. Swedavia also works actively to promote the switch to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and has the goal that five per cent of all fuel used for refuelling at Swedish airports shall be fossil-free by 2025.
