US preclearance at Stockholm Arlanda Airport

Stockholm Arlanda Airport could now become the first airport in Scandinavia to introduce what is known as US preclearance. US preclearance means that US immigration and customs inspection is carried out when a passenger departs from Stockholm instead of upon arrival in the US. The benefits include a smoother arrival in the US and the potential to attract new non-stop routes to the US.

Stockholm Arlanda Airport selected for US preclearance

Stockholm Arlanda Airport has been selected, as one of ten airports in the world, by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (US CBP) to introduce so-called US preclearance. The announcement means that concrete discussions between Sweden and US CBP will begin in order to ease connections between Sweden and the United States.
