American Express to make substantial investment at Arlanda

In late March, American Express will temporarily close the Amex Lounge by Pontus at Stockholm Arlanda Airport to carry out an extensive renovation of its lounge space. The refurbishment work is expected to continue until 2024, when the doors to a brand-new Amex Lounge will open. During the renovation, members are invited to the Amex Pop-Up Lounge.

Since its start, the Amex Lounge By Pontus in Terminal 5 at Stockholm Arlanda has been a popular hangout for American Express members. On Sunday, March 19, the lounge will close in order to undergo a floor-to-ceiling renovation. In 2024, the doors to a brand-new Amex Lounge will open.

“In 2023, we will launch one of American Express’s biggest and most extensive refurbishments at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. Together with Swedavia and prominent architects and designers, we will build a new Amex Lounge with 700 square metres of space that is absolutely top-class,” says Philip Trocmé, Nordic Country Manager at American Express.

Starting March 21, members will be welcomed to the Amex Pop-Up Lounge, located in Pier F. Members will be guided to the temporary lounge via physical and digital signs, and staff will also be on hand initially to show the way. On March 19-20, Amex members will be served breakfast, lunch and dinner in the form of a Lounge on-the-Go by the stairs to the Amex Lounge by Pontus.

The menu in the Pop-Up Lounge will be updated on a regular basis and offer cold dishes, while the beverage menu will include a variety of different cold drinks. During the year, members will be surprised by seasonal features such as exciting collaborations with premium brands and top chefs. Centurion and Platinum members are welcome in the Pop-Up Lounge in Pier F. Platinum members may bring one guest with them, while Centurion members may bring two guests.

“As part of the continued development of Stockholm Arlanda, it is especially nice that, going forward, the airport can also open this ‘old’ lounge in a new guise,” says Charlotte Ljunggren, Chief Commercial Officer at Swedavia.

The Amex Pop-Up Lounge will have the following opening hours:

Mon-Sun: 5:00 a.m.-7:30 p.m.

Breakfast: 5:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.

Lunch/Dinner 11:00 a.m.-7:30 p.m. (last orders will be taken at 7:00 p.m.)
