Arlanda’s Food Truck offers Stockholmers culinary experiences

Press release -

Arlanda’s Food Truck offers Stockholmers culinary experiences

Beginning today and for a number of weeks, people in Stockholm will be able to buy food straight from Arlanda’s Food Truck. The vehicle will visit different places in Stockholm and sell food from different restaurants at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. The range of food on offer at Stockholm Arlanda has expanded rapidly just in the last year, and the Food Truck will now allow even more people to explore the variety and eat well. The menu includes for example ramen soup with wasabi-marinated smoked salmon and truffle risotto.

The project goes by the name Arlanda Food Trucks and is an entirely new way to bring the airport to Stockholm and to local residents. People will be able to follow the Food Truck on a special campaign website and see where it stops. For the first stage, the truck will be in Stockholm for a number of weeks, starting today. If the project is a success, the Food Truck could make additional rounds and be a recurring feature in the cityscape.

The food sold from the Food Truck comes from restaurants at Stockholm Arlanda. A selection of dishes is available which can also be purchased at the airport. The food is prepared in the Food Truck, which is staffed by two to three people. The Food Truck is being run in partnership with an existing operator, but the Food Truck has a new look that clearly signals it comes from Stockholm Arlanda.

- It is an unusual and exciting way to market Arlanda. We want to give everyone a chance to eat the good food from the airport, and we hope and believe that many people will be surprised. Above all, we hope we can inspire more people to get to the airport well in advance to discover the broad array of food on offer, says Michael Persson Gripkow, chief commercial and marketing officer at Swedavia.

The menu will consist of six dishes – see the menu below. The selection of dishes should give people a good sense of the broad selection of food available at the airport today. The price is the same for all the dishes, SEK 65. Arlanda’s Food Truck is being rolled out today on the streets of Stockholm and will be parked in different places, many of which are centrally located, where there are many people out at lunchtime. Only lunches will be served at this point. Anyone who would like to visit the Food Truck can follow it online and see where it will be parked.

- There are almost fifty restaurants, cafés and bars at Arlanda, but many travellers do not take the time to discover what is available. There are many delicious and innovative dishes today that are far from what we are used to at airports. As the gateway to Sweden, the airport has become an important part of the whole travel experience, and the selection of food, beverages and shopping should be inspiring and meet our passengers’ needs, says Roel Huinink, managing director of ASDC, Arlanda Schiphol Development Company, which develops shops, restaurants and other commercial services at Stockholm Arlanda.
