Arlanda´s visitors are welcomed with new images of Sweden

The photography contest Swedish Light, which was arranged for the first time by Swedavia, has proven to be a success . The Swedish public was invited to participate and over 3 000 photos were submitted. In very tough competition, twenty winners have now been selected to present Sweden to international visitors in Terminal 5 at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. Thus, the photos are the first welcome to the more than 30 000 passengers who pass daily at Terminal 5.

- We are extremely pleased with the tremendous interest in this photo contest. Arlanda is Sweden's gateway to the world and we wanted to engage the Swedish public to help us showcase our country to international visitors. The pictures will give a worthy welcome to Sweden, and we also hope our visitors get inspired to discover what our country has to offer, says Michael Persson Gripkow, chief commercial and marketing officer at Swedavia.

The interpretation of the theme of the contest, “Swedish Light", mainly resulted in photos based on nature's phenomena, as the northern light in the top header photo by Gunar Streu.

The photos were taken all over the country in very different places as Nikkaluokta, Torneträsk and Drakryggen in the north via the Stockholm archipelago to the coasts of Ängelholm and Helsingborg in the south.
