Press release -
SunExpress now expanding with new route from Stockholm Arlanda
The range of new destinations from Stockholm Arlanda Airport continues to expand. With the summer schedule 2018, SunExpress will launch a new non-stop destination to the Turkish city of Konya. In addition to the new destination, SunExpress continues with its current routes to the Mediterranean cities Antalya and Izmir from Stockholm.
“Over the past year, 33 new international routes have been established at Stockholm Arlanda. We are pleased that we can offer additional destinations during 2018 and thus give travellers even more options. The new summer schedule with SunExpress meets the growing demand for direct service between Stockholm and Turkey, especially for travellers who want an easy, convenient way to visit family and friends in both countries,” said Elizabeth Axtelius, Aviation Business Director at Swedavia.
As the seventh largest city in Turkey, Konya is an important economic and historical place to be. The city has a special mix of old and new, with ancient mosques, modern shopping malls and charming cafés. About an hour distance by car from Konya is Çatalhöyük, an archaeological site where some of the oldest settlements in the world have been found.
”We are very happy to continue our frequencies to Antalya and Izmir as well as expand our routes from Stockholm Arlanda Airport with the addition of Konya in Summer 2018,” said Peter Glade, Commercial Director of SunExpress.
Konya is currently not operated from Stockholm Arlanda, and there has been demand for it from both holidaymakers and travellers visiting family and friends. The new direct link will be served by a Boeing 737-800, with a flight time of 3 hours and 55 minutes, operating on Wednesdays beginning June 13, until the end of October 2018. SunExpress’s existing destination Antalya will be served Thursday and Sunday, while Izmir will be served on Thursdays in the summer of 2018.
