Swedavia secures financing by Nordic Investment Bank
Swedavia and the Nordic Investment Bank have signed a loan agreement of SEK 2 billion (EUR 201 million) for the construction of a new pier at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
The number of passengers travelling through Stockholm Arlanda Airport is expected to grow around 2.3% annually from the year 2016 until 2050. Swedavia, who operates ten airports in Sweden, including Stockholm Arlanda Airport, are building the airports of the future – larger, more accessible and more modern airports. As the amount of passenger is increasing, there is a need for higher capacity and expansion.
One part of the development plans is a new pier which will be constructed in Terminal 5 and will add new aircraft stands and receive larger types of aircrafts. The new pier is part a large investment program for improving the infrastructure, levels of service and capacity for larger traffic volumes at several of Swedavia’s airports.
Swedavia and the Nordic Investment Bank have signed a loan agreement of SEK 2 billion (EUR 201 million) for the construction of a new pier at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. The ten-year maturity loan will help finance the airport expansion.
"The loan supports our continued work in building the airports of the future. Through NIB we diversify our funding sources and receive cost-effective borrowing with longer maturities", says Jonas Abrahamsson, President and CEO of Swedavia.
"Swedavia is a strong and long-term player with extensive knowledge and environmental awareness in building and developing the airports of the future," says Henrik Norman, NIB President and CEO.
Swedavia has an environmental strategy in place and aims to be fossil-free in our own airport operations by 2020. Furthermore, the company has a guideline to BREEAM certify new construction of strategical interest in their operations. The construction of the new pier will begin in 2020 and is scheduled for completion in 2025.
