Swedavia’s passenger statistics for February 2019

In February, nearly 2,790,000 passengers flew to or from Swedavia’s ten airports, a decrease of almost four per cent compared to the same month last year. At both Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Göteborg Landvetter Airport, air travel decreased three per cent, while air travel increased at two of the regional airports.

The number of international passengers at Swedavia’s airports decreased two per cent to more than 1,795,000 during February, while domestic passengers totalled more than 994,000 during February, a six per cent decrease compared to the same month last year.

During February, 1,357,000 international passengers flew to or from Stockholm Arlanda Airport, a two per cent decrease compared to the same month last year. The number of domestic passengers decreased four per cent during the month to almost 399,000 passengers.

At Göteborg Landvetter Airport, almost 345,000 passengers flew internationally during February, a one per cent decrease compared to the same month last year. The number of domestic passengers was almost 94,000, which is a nine per cent decrease compared to the same period last year.

There are regional differences among Swedavia’s airports in both domestic and international travel. At Visby Airport and Luleå Airport, total travel increased, three and two per cent respectively, during February. At Bromma Stockholm Airport, the number of international passengers increased five per cent to almost 25,000 passengers, while domestic travel decreased nine per cent to more than 150,000 passengers.

Swedavia has an ambitious sustainability work since many years. All ten Swedavia airports will produce zero fossil carbon dioxide emissions from their own operations by 2020. Swedavia also makes an active work to promote the shift to bio jet fuel, which is one of the most important measures to reduce the air transport industry’s climate impact. Swedavia’s target is to have five per cent of all fuel used for fuelling at Sweden’s airports be fossil-free by 2025. Since 2016, Swedavia purchases bio fuel equivalent to the amount used in the company’s air travel for business purposes, about 450 tonnes of fuel annually.

Swedavia’s Year-End Report 2018: Improved access to air travel and continued investments in climate-smart airports

The airport group Swedavia has reported an operating profit of 682 million Swedish kronor for 2018, when more than 42 million passengers flew to or from Swedavia’s airports. Swedavia appoints Caroline Ottosson as new director of Facilities and Systems corporate unit

Swedavia has appointed Caroline Ottosson, CEO of public transport companies SL and Waxholmsbolaget and director of the Stockholm County Public Transport Administration, to be the new director of its Facilities and Systems corporate unit and a new member of Swedavia’s Group management team. She will assume the position in August.
