The international trade organisation Airports Council International (ACI) has named Sweden’s largest airport – Stockholm Arlanda Airport – Eco-Innovation Airport of the Year. The rationale given for the decision is Swedavia’s climate transition work and work as a leader in operating climate-smart airports.
On Friday, October 1, Visby Airport’s new charging infrastructure for electric aircraft will be inaugurated. The inauguration of the new electric aircraft charging stations is taking place in conjunction with the first electric aircraft also landing at the airport.
For the second straight year, Swedavia has invited a number of companies and other organisations to take part in a coordinated tender for sustainable aviation fuel in an effort to reduce fossil carbon dioxide emissions from its own air travel for business purposes.
On October 1 Green Flyway, a collaboration project for the development of electric aviation, will open and inaugurate premises for an international test centre for electric planes and drones at Åre Östersund Airport in Sweden.
Since June 5, a number of Swedavia’s airports have received deliveries of bio jet fuel. On June 19, it will be Göteborg Landvetter Airport’s turn, when bio jet fuel will be refuelled during air travel from the airport in the next few days.
Starting 19 December bio aviation fuel will be used for a couple of days at Swedish airports Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Göteborg Landvetter Airport, Bromma Stockholm Airport, Visby Airport and Luleå Airport. Swedavia is one of only a few companies in the world that have been supplied with aviation biofuel during 2018.
