The Irish airline company Ryanair will launch four new routes ahead of the summer program of 2024, at Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Göteborg Landvetter Airport respectively.
The connectivity between Stockholm Arlanda Airport and North America will substantially increase when, starting in mid-April, United Airlines and Delta Air Lines returns. With the addition of routes, the total number of departures to the North American continent during the summer season of 2024, will be closer to 30 per week with up to 5 departures per day from the airport.
Swedavia is implementing an organisational change which means that as of 1 July, the Project business unit will be part of the Facilities and Systems business unit. The merger of the project and management organisations is being carried out after Johan Bill, Director of Projects, has chosen to retire and thereby leave Swedavia and Swedavia's executive management.
Increased air travel, an enhanced range of routes and destinations, as well as increased commercial revenues contributed to improved earnings and more satisfied passengers. Net revenue increased by just over SEK 1 billion compared with 2022 to almost SEK 6 billion. The ongoing operational disruption has a limited impact on Swedavia’s activity and does not affect the airports' aviation operations or passengers.
Japan’s largest airline, ANA, will establish at Stockholm Arlanda Airport with a direct route to the country’s major hub, Tokyo Haneda. ANA will be an important addition to Stockholm Arlanda, connecting the Swedish capital with one of the most important markets in Asia.
After a successful recruitment effort last year at Stockholm Arlanda, Swedavia is continuing to invest heavily in recruitment – this year with two open recruitment days at both Stockholm Arlanda and Landvetter, Sweden's two largest airports. The recruitment days are being held in collaboration with a large number of companies at the airports.
The recovery in air travel continued in 2023 and was mainly driven by increased international travel and an expanded range of routes and destinations at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. During the year, more than 32 million passengers flew through Swedavia's airports, which represents an increase of 17 percent compared to last year and about 80 percent of pre-pandemic levels.
