The airport operator Swedavia continues to contribute to the aviation industry’s climate transition through the annual public tender of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) that Swedavia organizes with the aim of promoting sustainable business travel.
Braathens Regional Airlines (BRA) will fly twice weekly between Göteborg Landvetter Airport and Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport in France, based on a 50 percent renewable SAF biofuel usage. The new route will thus be the most sustainable fuel-powered route in the world.
To support the electric aircraft manufacturer Heart Aerospace in the development of its first electric aircraft, the ES-30, Swedavia has agreed to take a seat on heart Aerospace’s newly formed industry advisory board.
To encourage companies and other organisations operating at Swedavia’s airports to become fossil-free and start refuelling with HVO, fossil-free diesel, on January 1 Swedavia introduced a special HVO 100 incentive at Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Göteborg Landvetter Airport. The goal is now for all operations at every Swedavia airport to be fossil-free by 2025.
On Friday, October 1, Visby Airport’s new charging infrastructure for electric aircraft will be inaugurated. The inauguration of the new electric aircraft charging stations is taking place in conjunction with the first electric aircraft also landing at the airport.
In October, 3,531,000 passengers flew via Swedavia’s ten airports, which is a decrease of almost 5 per cent compared to the same month last year. This month, a continued weaker trend for domestic travel was noted, while international traffic decreased to a lesser extent and scheduled European traffic was basically unchanged compared to October last year.
