BRA to enhance its presence at Visby Airport – will launch two new international routes
Starting in July, Braathens Regional Airlines (BRA) will enhance its presence at Visby Airport with two new direct routes to Oslo and Århus. The routes will be served twice weekly until August 13 and are a welcome addition to the other traffic at the airport.
”It feels really great that BRA will launch two new international routes, which will create opportunities for new visitors to experience our wonderful island – Norwegians and Danes are both important target groups for Gotland. Seen from the perspective of people from Gotland, it will now also be convenient to visit both Norway and Denmark this summer”, says Gunnar Jonasson, airport director at Visby Airport.
The direct route between Visby and Oslo will be flown on Thursdays and Sundays between July 6 and August 13, while the Visby−Århus route will be flown on Mondays and Fridays from July 3 to August 11. Both routes will be operated by the fuel-efficient, climate-smart ATR 72−600 regional aircraft, with seating for 72 passengers. In adding the new routes, BRA strengthens its position at Visby Airport, from which the carrier will fly to a total of seven different destinations.

Along with BRA’s direct service to Gothenburg, Malmö, Norrköping, Ängelholm/Helsingborg and now also Oslo and Århus, Visby Airport’s passengers can now fly to Stockholm (Arlanda and Bromma) and Helsinki this summer. BRA will serve the route Visby Airport (VBY) − Oslo Airport, Gardermoen (OSL) starting July 6 as well as Visby Airport −Aarhus Airport (AAR) starting July 3. The price of a one-way ticket is from SEK 999, and tickets are now on sale at www.flygbra.se.
About BRA
BRA’s goal is to achieve net zero emissions in its domestic air transport by 2030 and in its international air travel by 2045, which makes the airline a pioneer in fossil-free aviation. This goal will be reached in part by using the most fuel-efficient aircraft in the market, by helping to get the use of 100 per cent sustianable aviation fuel (SAF) certified as soon as possible, and by being one of the first operators to add electric aircraft to their fleet. Swedavia’s work for fossil-free aviation
Swedavia has carried out ambitious climate work for many years. All ten of its airports achieved the goal of zero fossil carbon dioxide emissions from their own operations by year-end 2020. Swedavia also works actively to promote the switch to sustainable aviation fuel and has the goal that five per cent of all fuel used for refuelling at Swedish airports shall be fossil-free by 2025. Swedavia’s climate transition work and its pioneering work to operate climate-smart airports have won international awards, and in 2021 the trade organisation Airports Council International (ACI) named Stockholm Arlanda Airport Eco-Innovation Airport of the Year.
Swedavia wants to help passengers reduce the carbon footprint from their own journey and contribute to the transition to net zero aviation and is thus working in collaboration with the Fly Green Fund.
