Step into the magical fairytale world of the Moomins while you wait for your flight. Moomin Arabia, in collaboration with Moomin Characters, has now opened its second shop in Sweden in the form of a pop-up in Terminal 5 at Stockholm Arlanda. It offers airport passengers a unique range of Moomin products – everything from the beloved porcelain to various accessories, clothes, toys and books.
On Thursday, April 4, the doors opened to American Express' newly renovated, double-sized lounge at the Marketplace in Terminal 5. With its almost 700 square meters of Nordic-inspired design, the lounge, under the direction of star restaurateur Pontus Frithiof, is American Express's largest in the Nordic region to date.
Established, respected brands coexist side by side with exciting new concepts. On Tuesday 26 March, Landvetter's brand new range of food, drink and shopping options was inaugurated with much fanfare.
The Croatian national carrier has announced that they will expand at Stockholm Arlanda Airport with a new, direct route to Zagreb. Croatia Airlines, a member of Star Alliance, will operate the new route twice a week, further connecting the Swedish capital with Croatia ahead of summer 2024.
The connectivity between Stockholm Arlanda Airport and North America will substantially increase when, starting in mid-April, United Airlines and Delta Air Lines returns. With the addition of routes, the total number of departures to the North American continent during the summer season of 2024, will be closer to 30 per week with up to 5 departures per day from the airport.
Nordic Kitchen & Bar is now opening at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. With a menu and a design that puts the Nordic and Scandinavian in focus, and with star chef Michael Spiridon at the helm, the restaurant hopes to take travellers by storm.
Japan’s largest airline, ANA, will establish at Stockholm Arlanda Airport with a direct route to the country’s major hub, Tokyo Haneda. ANA will be an important addition to Stockholm Arlanda, connecting the Swedish capital with one of the most important markets in Asia.
Transavia France is to expand at Stockholm Arlanda Airport by launching a new direct route to Marseille. This will further establish the French low-cost carrier’s presence at Stockholm Arlanda and meet the increased demand for direct routes to the French riviera. The new route will be served twice a week, starting on the 6th of June.
Ahead of the summer of 2024 Norwegian is launching another new direct route from Gothenburg Landvetter Airport, this time to the popular city of Dubrovnik in Croatia. The addition of the new route means that Norwegian will start in total five new routes from Gothenburg Landvetter next spring. The new route to Dubrovnik will be operated twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting May 1, 2024
After a summer with strong booking levels in almost the entire country, TUI is investing heavily in charter trips from regional airports and will launch new and returning routes from Malmö Airport, Umeå Airport, Luleå Airport and Visby Airport ahead of the coming season. In total 9 charter destinations will be operated from Swedavias airports adding up to a little over 160 departures.
Canada's largest airline, Air Canada, will establish at Stockholm Arlanda Airport with two direct routes, one of which is a new destination – Montreal – on June 12th as of next year. Operating direct routes to Toronto and Montreal five times a week, Air Canada will be an important addition to Stockholm Arlanda, connecting the Swedish capital with Canada as well as the North American market.
On Tuesday, October 10, Stockholm Arlanda Airport's new 11,000 square-metre Marketplace and the airport's new, faster security check-point at Sweden's largest airport were inaugurated, with speeches by Swedavia's CEO, Jonas Abrahamsson, and Andreas Carlson, Sweden's Minister for Infrastructure and Housing.
Swedavia opens new Marketplace at Arlanda's Terminal 5. A roughly 11,000 square meter commercial area with around 40 new shop and restaurant concepts that will offer travelers completely new experiences before the flight. The investment is the largest ever at Arlanda and is based on Swedavia's long-term commercial strategy that focuses on variety, renewal and value for money.
The ultra low-cost carrier Wizz Air is continuing its expansion with its sights set on Sweden's largest airport. Starting 31 October 2023, the airline will launch two new routes from Stockholm Arlanda Airport to Budapest and Gdansk.
Over the summer, a number of new outlets have opened at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. And more will be added before the new Marketplace opens its doors in September.
The strong growth in summer air travel continued in July. More than 3.2 million passengers flew via Swedavia’s ten airports during the month, an increase of more than 14 per cent compared to July last year. As a result, for the third straight month more than three million passengers flew via Swedavia’s airports, and July is also the single strongest month for travel since October 2019.
This summer, the range of shops at Göteborg Landvetter Airport will be revitalised. Two major additions are a new electronics store and a brand-new souvenir shop.
Eurowings continues to expand at Stockholm Arlanda Airport by launching a new direct route to Beirut. This will further establish the German value carrier’s presence at Stockholm Arlanda and meet the increased demand for a direct route to the capital of Lebanon, as well as add to the considerable variety of destinations already operated by Eurowings from the airport.
There will be liquorice for all tastes at Stockholm Arlanda Airport when the Swedish retailer Lakritsroten opens in the new Marketplace in December.
Swedavia is continuing its development of the airports of the future and is planning a new hotel at Stockholm Arlanda Airport and at Kiruna Airport.
