Transavia France to launch a new direct route to Marseille from Stockholm Arlanda Airport ahead of the summer season 2024

Transavia France is to expand at Stockholm Arlanda Airport by launching a new direct route to Marseille. This will further establish the French low-cost carrier’s presence at Stockholm Arlanda and meet the increased demand for direct routes to the French riviera. The new route will be served twice a week, starting on the 6th of June.

Ahead of the summer program 2024 Transavia France is to expand Stockholm Arlanda Airport by adding a new direct route to the second largest city in France, Marseille. Known for its stunning beaches, rich history, and vibrant culture, Marseille is one of the most dynamic cities in France. Marseille’s location on the French riviera not only make it a popular destination for people looking to explore the warm climate and sandy beaches, but the city is also an important center for trade in the region and the main commercial port of France.

- There is a great confidence in the Swedish air travel market, and Transavia’s investment in an additional direct route at Stockholm Arlanda Airport is a clear sign of this. France is always in high demand, and Transavia plays a significant role in connecting Sweden to well-established markets in southern parts, says Elizabeth Axtelius, Director Aviation Business at Swedavia. Our main goal is to increase the connectivity and facilitate for people to meet, whether it is for business, leisure or to visit family and friends, says she.

- By further expanding our low-cost offer in 2024, we are determined to offer ever more travel possibilities to our customers. They will be spoiled for choice when it comes to joining family and friends and going on vacation to sunny and sometimes little-known destinations, says Nicolas Henin, Deputy General Director of Sales and Marketing at Transavia France.

Starting on the 6th of June, the route Stockholm Arlanda Airport – Marseille will be operated twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays.

Swedavia’s work for fossil-free aviation
Swedavia has carried out ambitious climate work for many years. All ten of its airports achieved the goal of zero fossil carbon dioxide emissions from their own operations by year-end 2020. Swedavia also works actively to promote the switch to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and has the goal that five per cent of all fuel used for refueling at Swedish airports shall be fossil-free by 2025. Swedavia’s climate transition work and its pioneering work to operate climate-smart airports have won international awards, and in 2021 the trade organization Airports Council International (ACI) named Stockholm Arlanda Airport Eco-Innovation Airport of the Year. Swedavia offers all passengers flying from one of Swedavia’s airports the option to purchase SAF for all or part of their journey via flygreenfund.se/swedavia.
