Step into the magical fairytale world of the Moomins while you wait for your flight. Moomin Arabia, in collaboration with Moomin Characters, has now opened its second shop in Sweden in the form of a pop-up in Terminal 5 at Stockholm Arlanda. It offers airport passengers a unique range of Moomin products – everything from the beloved porcelain to various accessories, clothes, toys and books.
Passengers, employees and other partners at Swedavia’s ten airports raised more than SEK 2.8 million in 2023 for the Swedish Red Cross, an increase of SEK 1.1 million compared to 2022. Swedavia has been partnering with the Red Cross since 2012, and in that time has raised a total of SEK 23 million for the organisation's aid and relief efforts.
During March, almost 2.5 million passengers flew via Swedavia’s airports. International travel continued to show a positive trend during the month and increased by 5 per cent compared to March of last year, while domestic travel showed a weaker trend as a result of an early Easter this year, which resulted in lower demand for domestic travel.
On Thursday, April 4, the doors opened to American Express' newly renovated, double-sized lounge at the Marketplace in Terminal 5. With its almost 700 square meters of Nordic-inspired design, the lounge, under the direction of star restaurateur Pontus Frithiof, is American Express's largest in the Nordic region to date.

In 2023, the recovery from the low traffic volumes of previous years continued, with new airlines coming and old ones returning to the company’s airports, with most routes and destinations restored.
In 2024, Swedavia's investment in sustainable aviation will continue through the SAF (sustainable aviation fuel) incentive programme, a programme in which Swedavia offers discounts and reimburses airlines up to 50 per cent of the premium cost for refuelling with environmentally friendly renewable aviation fuel. 2024 marks the fifth year in a row that Swedavia has offered the incentive programme.
Eurowings continues to expand at Stockholm Arlanda Airport by launching two new direct routes ahead of summer 2024. The new routes will serve Hannover (HAJ) and Naples (NAP) respectively, adding to the considerable variety of destinations already operated by Eurowings from the airport.
In February, Swedavia's ten airports served nearly 2.2 million passengers, which is 4 per cent higher than February of last year. The increase continues to be driven by international travel, which increased 8 per cent during the month.
The Croatian national carrier has announced that they will expand at Stockholm Arlanda Airport with a new, direct route to Zagreb. Croatia Airlines, a member of Star Alliance, will operate the new route twice a week, further connecting the Swedish capital with Croatia ahead of summer 2024.
For the second year in a row, the Gothenburg region with Swedavia’s airport Göteborg Landvetter Airport has been named Sweden's leading logistics location by the trade magazine Intelligent Logistik. Through the development of cargo and logistics areas, new destinations och a strong attractiveness as a workplace, Göteborg Landvetter Airport is one of the hubs in the region's logistics.
The Irish airline company Ryanair will launch four new routes ahead of the summer program of 2024, at Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Göteborg Landvetter Airport respectively.
The connectivity between Stockholm Arlanda Airport and North America will substantially increase when, starting in mid-April, United Airlines and Delta Air Lines returns. With the addition of routes, the total number of departures to the North American continent during the summer season of 2024, will be closer to 30 per week with up to 5 departures per day from the airport.
Swedavia is implementing an organisational change which means that as of 1 July, the Project business unit will be part of the Facilities and Systems business unit. The merger of the project and management organisations is being carried out after Johan Bill, Director of Projects, has chosen to retire and thereby leave Swedavia and Swedavia's executive management.
Increased air travel, an enhanced range of routes and destinations, as well as increased commercial revenues contributed to improved earnings and more satisfied passengers. Net revenue increased by just over SEK 1 billion compared with 2022 to almost SEK 6 billion. There was positive development in operating income, but costs increased due to both higher passenger volumes and inflation.
During January, Swedavia's ten airports served nearly 2.1 million passengers, which is on a par with the number of passengers in January of last year. The trend of stronger demand for international travel, especially to Europe, and weaker demand for domestic travel continued in January, which is one of the weakest travel months of the year.
Swedavia, Airbus, Avinor, SAS and Vattenfall have signed a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) to work together to develop infrastructure for hydrogen aviation at airports in Sweden and Norway. The goal of the collaboration is to, through a preliminary study on hydrogen, develop a framework and review the conditions for a possible rollout of hydrogen-powered aviation in both countries.
Swedavia is continuing to invest largely for the future in recruitment at Sweden's largest airports, Arlanda and Landvetter, to ensure Sweden’s long-term connectivity.
The ongoing operational disruption has a limited impact on Swedavia’s activity and does not affect the airports' aviation operations or passengers.
