Swedavia strengthens its collaboration with Médecins Sans Frontières

Swedavia is expanding its collaboration with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) through an extended agreement and forty new collection bins for deposit bottles and cans located at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. The collaboration aims to promote social sustainability and support MSF's humanitarian efforts globally. The new initiative is expected to increase both visibility and financial contributions.

On Thursday June 13th, Air Canada was welcomed at Stockholm Arlanda Airport with an inauguration ceremony attended by H.E. Operating direct routes to Toronto and Montreal five times a week, Air Canada will be an important addition to Stockholm Arlanda.

Airport Director: Important to know before your summer trip

The most travel-intensive period of the year is here. A large number of passengers are expected to pass through Stockholm Arlanda Airport during June, July and August, and the airport offers a total of 17 new scheduled routes during the summer season. "I would like to wish everyone a warm welcome to Arlanda this summer," says Arlanda's Airport Director Karl Eklund.

Swedavia’s traffic statistics for May 2024: International travel within Europe continues to be prioritised despite the macroeconomic situation, while domestic air travel continues to see weaker growth

During May, more than 3 million passengers flew via one of Swedavia's ten airports. This represents an increase of 2 per cent compared to May of last year. Despite macroeconomic headwinds, international traffic increased by 6 percent and was driven by increased international travel within Europe.

The connectivity between Stockholm Arlanda Airport and North America will substantially increase when, starting in mid-April, United Airlines and Delta Air Lines returns. With the addition of routes, the total number of departures to the North American continent during the summer season of 2024, will be closer to 30 per week with up to 5 departures per day from the airport.

Swedavia opens new Marketplace with food and shopping at Arlanda

Swedavia opens new Marketplace at Arlanda's Terminal 5. A roughly 11,000 square meter commercial area with around 40 new shop and restaurant concepts that will offer travelers completely new experiences before the flight. The investment is the largest ever at Arlanda and is based on Swedavia's long-term commercial strategy that focuses on variety, renewal and value for money.

On the 1st of September 2003, the first ever flight with the airline Norwegian took place between Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Oslo Gardermoen. Twenty years on, Norwegian has served almost 65 000 000 passengers flying to and from Arlanda Airport, making their well know red nosed planes a familiar sight in the skies above the airport.

The artisanal bakery Gateau opens in Arlanda this autumn

A number of shops and restaurants will open at Stockholm Arlanda this autumn as the first stage of the Market Place is completed. One of the new additions is Gateau, a craft bakery with a French twist that will offer passengers a premium-quality classic Swedish fika, or coffee and pastry.
